This is because when you press the tongue it actually makes the sound of a phone ringing, which some one mistook for a bird call. However the shoes are actually based off of a notorious fictional skateboarder known as Larry Perkins. Larry was famous for prank calling various skateboarding companies to boast of his phenomenal talents. Recordings of these calls can be heard here. While denim dunks have always been a big hit with Nike fans, the addition of a patent swoosh, a furry interior lining, the classic bred colorway, and a unique sound effect immediately sent the sneaker community into a frenzy trying to catch one of these extremely limited pairs.
